Fasting can be joyful! Every time we remember the fast, may our hearts turn to feast on Christ. Please consider donating the money you don't spend on meat and sweets this week to the Church, or to a favorite local charity like Mobile Loaves and Fishes. "Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church" (Col. 1:24). The only thing lacking in Christ's afflictions is our participation in his loving action of self-sacrifice.

This beautiful prayer below comes from the Pentecostarion for the evening’s vigil for the feast of All Saints. May the Saints help us all to become Saints like them, to have God's law of love written in our hearts, so that we, who are God's children by Baptism, may shine in the image of God and reveal Christ's presence to the whole world. Amen!
